Mistaken Marionette Tutorials.
—Changing eye colour.
In my opinion, changing eye colour in photoshop can be done in two ways; a natural way or a more vivid, dramatic way which takes more focus and more attention to detail. Both ways are very simple and I personally think that the more vivd way is more appealing to the eye.
A natural change;
- First off, you will need to select your lasso tool. Then you can begin to trace around one of the irises (coloured part of the eye).
- Proceed to select the other eye by holding the shift key on your keyboard and then trace around the remaining iris carefully. You will need to be meticulous in doing so as we want to change the colour of both irises entirely, not just part of them.
- Usually, if the overall picture is looking very soft, I will sharpen the selected irises (Enhance > Auto sharpen or you can use the actual sharpen tool) and then I adjust Brightness/Contrast of the eyes to the best of my own judgement. This creates a nice effect and alters the appearance of the eyes immensely.
- Now you will need to decide on a colour. I will take blue as an example as that is the colour I used to change Dianna’s eyes (shown above). It is rather difficult to alter the appearance of extremely dark, brown eyes but it can be done if you pay great attention to lighting and intensity of colour.
- Select the paint brush tool and set the mode to ‘color’. You can adjust the opacity as you wish.
- Carefully fill in both irises with the brush tool, you should be able to tell once he change is complete.
—If you aren’t satisfied with your end result, I suggest you consider the following:
A dramatic change;
- You can furthermore change the eyes by using different settings of the paint brush tool.
- I suggest using a light shade of blue (or whatever other colour you wish to use), a medium-toned shade of a colour that is quite similar and then a darker toned colour of this.
- With these varying shades of blue you will be able to create depth within the irises. For the light shade of blue, set the brush’s mode to ‘color’ and then paint the irises in order to increase the overall pop of the eyes.
- Using the medium shade of blue, set the brush’s mode to ‘color dodge’ or ‘linear dodge’ and lower the opacity all the way down to around 20% or lower. By using this setting, we will be able to create an area of light within the iris. Eyes are very reflective, therefore you will always notice a lighter section within the iris. I suggest painting only a small fraction of the iris, preferably wherever the light is hitting it.
- Lastly, you can then use the darker shade of blue and set the brush’s mode to ‘multiply’. Select a smaller brush (a 1px brush, if possible) and then carefully darken the outer circle of the iris (the black ring which separates the iris from the sclera). If this appears too harsh, then you can blur the line by using the blur tool set at a very low capacity.
If you’re having trouble with any of these steps, then send any questions to the ask box.

TUTORIAL BY PSCS5; Tips and tricks on how to make this type of edit.

The main things that you usually see in these type edits are very solid dual colors, dull colors, and lots of textures. In this edit that I made I used a lot of brushes to create different tones and effects.

1. I gathered up 8 screen caps. Cropped each one 250px • 150px
2. I made a New Document. 500px • 600px
3. I edited these pictures individually
The Tips:
• Colorful Dual Colors: Use a lot of solid color fills and gradient maps to create your dual colors. You can also download these types of coloring’s on PSD Blogs. For example: drunkandcoloring, colorized, etc.
• For dull colors: try not using vibrance, you can even lower the vibrance to make it more dull. Pick very dull colors if you use gradient maps and solid colors to fill in your layers.
• Textures: Use lot’s of textures. This will give your edit a more interesting look. Using grain, vintage, colorful, paper, etc, textures are some really nice ones you can use. You can also use some exotic textures, textures that you would think will not look good but they end up looking really nice. You can find a lot of textures in my tags, Textures: {1} {2} {3} {4} {5} {6}. You can also go to Deviantart and Google to find textures.
• Brushes: I this particular edit I used a lot of brushes. Screen caps 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 , and 8 I used brushes. These brushes were some that I downloaded a long time ago, so I don’t remember which ones they are. But I probably downloaded them from Deviantart and used Google to sites that contained brushes. What I did was just paint over some parts of the pictures and played with the blends. And that’s it.
• Blending Modes:

Play with these blends to get different effects when you use your textures, colors, and brushes.
• Filters:

You can use these filters to give your edit a variety of effects. When using these duplicate your image and then add on the Filters.
The Tricks:
• The overall trick is to use the tips. This isn’t really time consuming but if you want everything to look just right, time and patience is the key. Be creative and use everything in Photoshop you can at your advantage.

TUTORIAL BY PSCS5; How to make this .gif effect

Requested: rockvatoz submitted: bby, could you please do a tutorial on this? http://cherzolanski.tumblr.com/post/25653682426

As you can see, I did mines a little bit different because I did not feel like downloading two other videos, so I decided just to do it with one. But it’s the same process.

1. Open up your image. If your image is in it’s regular size, crop it to 500px.

2. Edit your picture.

3. Now your going to select the Slice Tool. To find the Slice Tool click on the Crop Tool, right click it then select the Tool:

4. Once you select the Slice Tool, at the top, select Fixed Ratio and put your width and height like the measurements shown in the picture above.

5. Now click on the picture to make a slice. You can move the slice to where you first want to start of the picture by clicking on it.

6. Now add 5 more slices, they should all be placed next to each other. No spaces should be between the slices.

7. Once your done with all your slices, this is what it should look like:

8. Now to save your slices, use whatever settings you usually use when you save a picture. And to keep this organized make a New Folder so when you save the slices you know where they are. I named my folder “slices”

9. Okay so just go to File → Save for Web and Devices. Click Save. Now the window of where you want to save the slices will show up. Look for your Folder. But before you click save, make sure you have these as your settings:

10. You are now done with your slices.

11. Make your .gifs now. Crop them to 160px • 210px.

12. Edit your .gifs and make them b&w.

13. Open up your picture slices.

14. Once you have them open, start dragging one of the slices onto one .gif. Make sure that the slices are at the top of your coloring and .gif.

15. Repeat this process once you have all the slices on top of the .gifs.

16. Click on the picture slice and change the opacity to 50.

17. Repeat this process to all your slices. ‘

18. Save each .gif.

19. Upload your six .gifs onto tumblr. Click on the last Photoset option when you have uploaded all the .gifs.

20. Your done!
